Good morning Ladies and Gents,

I working in Afghanistan, just south of Kabul, and I figured now would be as good as time as any to puchase a few rugs. I am a Rookie Rugger and this will be my first purchase.

The first rug I am looking at:
Handmade 100% natural silk rug, please look and the pics and any feedback I get will be helpful, the asking price on this rug is $2500.00USD.

Looks like art-silk to me. Even if it was real silk I'd suggest the price is high if you're buying in Afghanistan. (Doesn't look like a big rug?)

My advice to anyone buying abroad is stick to wool.

Thanks on the insight. The size is about 2x3(24inchesx36inches) I do have pics of the 3 wool rugs I am looking at but I will post those later... working through them one at a time. Can you give me any advice on how to avoid Art Silk? I know rub, burn, and chemicals. Are there any other ways?

This rug from Kashmir. for 2 x 3-ft. $ 500 is the maximum

Thank you so much for your Help... Yes it is from Kashmir. I am liking thijns site more and more. So now I will move on to the wool rugs like suggested. What questions should I be asking? These are the larger pics I will be taking the close ups tomorrow.
