I have two Qum silk rugs and I am not sure what they are worth in the market right now. We want to sell them...I haven't the foggiest where to begin or what I can expect to get for them. The first rug is very fine silk, and the second (blue tones) rug is also very nice. Both are 100% silk and both are 3' x 5' and in excellent condition. I've taken them to two rug dealers near me and have been told various things. One dealer told me the first rug was a Turkish Hereke, and the second dealer said, "no..it's says Qum right on it." They were both sold to us as Qum. I don't know what to believe or what to value them at either for sale or insurance purposes. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Also, if anyone has experience with what the best avenue for selling them is (ie, Ebay, auction house, consignment, etc), I welcome advice. The dealer who told you one of them is Hereke has no knowledge about rugs. Both rugs are of very good quality. Shop price in USA is ca. 3000 - 3500 each for new rugs - selling them private should bring at least half of that for used rugs. Ebay is fast, but unless you have good bidders might be a bad surprise in price.
