I've been looking at the below rug for a while - despite it being above my present budget and having no room left either - but it is a true beauty, and the sellers do not commit themselves as to what it is. Can anyone here tell?

Does no-one have an idea where this rug might originate?

I'm not an expert on the Persian rugs , but I liked the description of the seller.

I AM NOT EXACTLY SURE WHAT REGION OF PERSIA THIS RUG WAS WOVEN...

and ask 55 000$

Very interestingly, the seller is not sure what he is selling but decided to increase the price at 8-10 times , not to be mistaken with the price.

Probably an old Indian Mahal, I think they've added that to the description now...

Nice rug but low pile and I'm not sure it's over 100 years old either. Regardless it's massively over-priced for a rug in that condition with no historical significance.

perhaps mahal. I think it is Yazd, 80-90 years old. Very pretty rug. Many are commenting on the price, which is quite high. A designer may be willing to pay this or close to even though easily 2x what could conceivably be at replacement val.

Suppose it depends where you're selling it, I'd love to be able to get even half that amount for any rug where I am.
