To give a new post to a slow board---I don't mean old as in antique or even the '50s but old as in better workmanship. Several of you have mentioned that the cost of labor for "newer" rug can produce shortcuts and less quality.
I also read that the maximun kpsi for older bijars is 256, but the newer can have much higher knot count.
Would the attached bijar carry the quality of an older or newer rug?

Approximate measurement is 131"X78"

Thanks

The design is Bidjar, but not the production. It is sold as Bidjar because it was made in the Bidjar area. The city is probably Zahndjan or Songhor, my oppinion is Songhor. It has less quality than classic Afshan or Tekap Bidjar rugs, but still it is a durable and long lasting rug. Also higher class Bidjars usually use a finer spun wool often described as kurk wool. This rug has a medium quality wool. It is a not so old, maximum 20 years.

Thanks and makes sense. The handle is not as stiff as my bidjars.
