I have just returned from India where i bought a 3X5 silk carpet made in Kashmir for almost $1100. I do not know anything about carpets, but I have a slight feeling that a payed to much. Anyone out there with an qualified opinion?

Looks like your rug is a 24/24 silk on silk. I can`t count the knots on the picture, but if it has 24 knots on 1 inch, then it is a very fine rug, and the price would be ok.

Thanks! I count at least 24 knots in 1 inch. What is the kpsi then? Probably a stupid question.

Yup, if that's what you counted. (24x24 is more standard.) Nice high number either way.
