Hi everyone! I'm new here, and a relative newbie to rugs in general. Flatweaves (North African, particularly) are really my first love, and I know a lot more about them than pile rugs, so I could really use some help figuring out whether or not I got a good deal on the rug below, and whether or not it's genuine, etc.
The rug was listed (On eBay, incidentally) as Qashqai, but I'm dubious about whether or not it's a genuine Qashqai. Of course, I don't really know the major difference between Qashqai and Shiraz pieces, other than that they are somewhat interelated in that the Qashqai live around the Shiraz area. I offered $200 (it was listed for $285) and it was accepted, with free shipping. I'm not too concerned with whether or not I overpaid, because I want this to furnish a particular room, and I don't mind wear and tear or general irregularities. Still curious about what this is worth, though.
I count about five colors, not sure about KPSI, I'd place condition as "good," I think, and the seller had this listed as being about 45 years old. It is supposedly wool-on-wool. What do you think?
Any help/feedback would be much appreciated. I know eBay buys are risky, so I'm interested to hear what you guys might have to say...
(I've tried to attatch the photos; please let me know if they went through or not).
Thanks!
