This rug posted on Craig's list ($850), person claims it 'came from Asia' and cost $5000, 20 years ago. Size 9x12. Does anyone recognize where's it from and aprox. value. Not for me, but maybe someone else might like it.

It is from India. Looks very good for age, very good wool quality. $500 is a great price for a rug that size and condition. I recommend (as always) if your friend buys it, have it pro washed, and you will be suppriesed what a nice rug this is.

From India with a Bijar inspired design: turtle border and layered herati motive for field/spandrels/medaillon (the latter also found on Sarouks).

Fred where are you located? Are you in Arizona?

This rug came up on craigslist in Tucson; it's the same rug isn't it?

Is this a scam?

I'm in Tucson too...not to worry, I won't 'poach' any of the rugs you post...although I have a weakness for Isfahans:)

(yes, same rug)

Small world... Not too worried about poaching rugs; I've got an 800 sq ft house and just bought my 3rd room sized rug so I literally don't have any more floor space for rugs.

How's it going with that rug? Did you make the seller an offer?

It's too big for my home (850 sq. ft), when a rug comes in, one has to go out...can't believe you have an even smaller home than me!! Low mortgage=more $$ rugs:)

I just found the rug interesting the way the people claimed it cost $5000 new (20 yrs ago), but I guess this was possible, back then my chinese 90-line rug cost $600 (3x5).
