Yes, beautiful authentic Nain. The inscription reads: "Iran, Habibian, Nain". As you probably know, Habibian is the producer of finest Nain rugs ever woven. However, there is a slight chance that the signature does not belong to Habibian and this is not a piece originally made by him. It still is a gorgeous, high quality Nain rug.

As for the value, expect to pay around $3800-$4000 for it.

Real nice quality persian Nain. Very fine and well designed. I think the signature is not added and was woven into the rug during its production, but I would not recognize it as a Habibian from the Fathollah Habibian Workshop. Design, quality of wool and signature do not fit. You must know there is not just one Habibian, there are many companies producing and selling under this name. Fathollah Habibian died in 1995, and some of his family kept the company running for a few years. If this was a rug from the Master himself with documented history, price would be at least at 20000$. But for this rug I would agree in price with rugpro.

Thanks for your feedback. I am thrilled to be able to look at a real Nain and not a copy from copy-cat towns.. I almost lost hope of being able to look at one :)
I was also wondering if the signature was a post production one, but after close observation and "forensic" analysis of the colour variation, I am thinking it is more woven inline.. it looks like the real Habibian sig in terms of outline (at least based on pictures I have seen in http://www.oldcarpet.com/habibian.htm), but I agree, highly unlikely from the master weaver's workshop.

Thank you for posting this beautiful piece... very complex
I see the signature is not Habibian (for a change). Is this weaver a particularly known one in Nain?
