So, considering this is my favorite style of rug, why did i not buy it at this price (assuming the hammer price would of been higher, but i still think was (is) a good deal).

I was bidding on the attached rug and chicken-out at $400 dollars, but now am kicking myself since i really did like this piece...

so, my question is: how much, if any, did i not screw-up in buying this; how rare are sarouk runners, if at all; and how much would you pay for this...

Man, i need to listen to my gut next time...sorry forum for letting you down :)

Yes, such old pieces of Sarouk runners are somewhat rare. Evaluation would have been easier with the size of it, but I say it is worth about twice that much if it is 12 feet long. Of course, it shows that a bit of the pile is unravelling at the ends which needs to be repaired. Overall, a nice runner.

Don`t be sad - rugs are like trains - if you missed one, just wait for the next :-). The rug is nice and it is rare, but it was cut quite a bit on the selvedge and probably therefor the rug had other major wear that is not visible at once on fotos. I would not have paid much more for a rug that is missing almost half border on each side.

KAD...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Rugpro always says condition is everything and you're comply right! I had no idea half the borders were missing on each side until you pointed it out!!! so, thank you so much because i was beating myself over this one, but seriously overlooked such an obvious defect...not that's not a great piece still, but i have limited funds that need to wait for better pieces...

see, this is just one of the reasons why i love the forum!
