Hi everyone, I am hoping you can help me out. My friend took this rug as payment on a landscaping project for a large estate that was going bankrupt. The owner told him he bought it for $10,000 about 7 years ago and that he should have no problem selling it for $2,500. Since the owner owed my friend only $2,000 my friend thought this was a good idea. You see where this is going... :) I am hoping that the fine people at the Rug Rag Forum can tell me what this rug is and what his next step should be in unloading this "hot deal" he got. The only thing I think I know is that it is silk and it measures 8' x 10'. Thanks! Mary Alice

P.S. This rug was up on the wall, not on the floor. Thanks!

I love the design of this rug and it does look to be in great shape. For a silk rug this size, $2,000 trade sounds is a good deal, but selling a rug is not easy. My guess is it was made in China...Persian design. If I was your friend I'd keep it and enjoy it as a beautiful piece of art...silk rugs are one of the most luxurious things a person can own (just be careful not to catch the fringe in the vacuum!) Let's see what the "experts" say, I'm only a crazy collector who has spent too much time looking at rugs on-line.
