Hi, i just bought this through an online auction site unseen, so i can't wait to see if i got a good deal, or made a mistake. I think it's a 3'x5' 1930s lilihan, but what do i know. it was an impulse buy that i got for $50 after paying all the premiums, etc...

so, did i make a mistake? i'll post more photos once the rug is shipped...

Dargazine of some sort. Even in decent shape some dealers would want $500, maybe more or less, would have to see the back

Thanks, RugPro. So, sounds like i may have gotten a good deal assuming the rug is what you say and in good condition. I will post updated photos when it arrives.

Also, what is a Dargazine? Where does this type fall in terms of quality between a Lilihan, Sarouk, etc.? What is the approximate age of the piece?

thanks again!

hamadan has often been a catch all for a lot of rugs as it's a region that overlaps many weaving areas. dargazine is like a lilihan motif and structurel; single wefted and like sarouk style, but dargazine often has a more exaggerated european look. At least I think it's dargazine

This is a Persian Lilihan with natural dyes, around 70 years old. If not seriously damaged, it is worth at least $400-$500. Looking at additional images would definitely help.

Well, it arrived...and i think it's not in the greatest condition, but kind of nice none the less. I probably would not have bought it knowing now what it looks like, but then again, i only payed $74 w/ shipping...so, not too bad. i think I'll use it at my entry.

is it worth repairing???? obviously needs a cleaning...

..and so, what is the consensus on the age, origin and value???

thanks again!
