Hi,

So I’ve continued to look at some of the Afghan and Persian rugs for sale here in Kabul and I’ve narrowed the field by a couple. There are three silk or silk/wool ones from Iran that I really like and I’d be interested in hearing what people think of the choices as well as if they're worth the price. The first two are advertised as silk/wool Tabriz around 30 y/o. The third is advertised as a 100% silk Khum that also around 30 y/o. The starting price for the first two is $14,000 each but you can usually bargain it down 20-30% from there. I haven’t asked what the starting price for the Khum is though.

Can anyone tell me if these are what they’re being advertised as and if the prices are considered reasonable (or if not what a reasonable price would be)?

As always, many thanks to the experts.

Rob

PS) I negotiated for a couple weeks on the price for this rug and purchased it for $3700, down from the $6500 starting price. Hopefully I did good.
