Hi I've been looking for a Round Silk rug for quite awhile and have found a few online.
This will be my first purchase of a high end rug. Can you please give me some tips and advice on what to ask the seller.

And more importantly can anyone help me with a price range on silk rugs, do they sell by square foot or by piece. Everyone has said prices have really jumped since the embargo was placed on Persian carpets again.

I'm currently looking at these two pieces. I'm waiting on the sellers response as to pricing.

Sorry for the late reply. They are asking $2,900 for the 5x5 octagon rug and $4,500 for the 7x7 round rug.

Regards,
Mike

I think both of these rugs are really beautiful. The first one has a wonderful Gonbad (not Gombad) design, and colors are fantastic. However, the larger piece is a higher quality and the "Arsalani" signature makes it more valuable. They are both Persian Qum on a silk foundation. As for the market value, although they are not a bargain, the asking price from the seller seems fair to me. Good luck.
