Dear Forum.
I am currently in Hong Kong and purchased two rugs.
I was told by the seller one is from Kazakhstan and the second from Afghanistan.
since i am a newbie, after taking them home, reviewing your website and looking at our carpets, I would like to confirm the information provided by the seller. (origin, handmade yes/no, KPSI, etc)
I would also like to get a rough estimate of the worth as I can still go back to the merchant as per our agreement (I can come back if we don’t like them).
I really need some peace of mind about my purchase.

Rug information:
both are about 6 by 4 feet.
first is from Kazakhstan and the second from Afghanistan.
the are both handmade.
the one from Kazakhstan is fairly new and the one from Afghanistan is about 15 years old.
if i remember correctly he said they were both wool.
the coin in the images is a Hong Kong 2 dollar coin and the diameter is 28mm (in the extended section) or 26.31mm in the "shorter" section.

I would say, description ok so far, saleprice ca. 150 - 250 $ each.

Well, I can`t tell you the price in HK, we are in Germany. From what I observe the prices I wrote would be most likly in US or Germany, I really don`t know about HK, but I see no reason why they should be very different there. Both rugs are handknotted. To find out kpsi, count knots on the back in lenght and width on one inch and multiply.

the local merchant quoted 8000HKD, which is about 1,000 USD for both.
i counted the knots and it seems to be no more than 100 kpsi.
seems like they are very overpriced, unless i am missing something?
