Purchased this rug - really liked the design with the two striking central medallions. However, I am worried that I paid too much! I am completely new to antique rug buying (and ebay). Also thought it was strange that bidding was a "private listing" - is that typical (and what exactly does that mean)? Would appreciate any advice or concerns about the item.

I couldn't post any pictures but here is the info.

"19Th C. Powerfull Antique Cloudband-Kazak Caucasian Rug"

Item #: 230593466469

A good rug , good price. But tthis rug is not from Kazak, it is from Karabagh. However, this does not change anything, you bought a nice rug for a good price

i may be very mistaken, and I hope bukhara corrects me if so

not that it is not worth it because it is a beautiful rug at a great deal and likely would pay a lot at a retailer. but, this does look like a new reproduction. the blue shows funny on my monitor, condition is too good to not make me skeptical, as is the price, and it does not have the antique patina only age can create. plus, it is from turkey.

The rug is antique, and it is no turkish copy. It received a "frame up" restauration, as car restoratores would say. Most poeple would not belive what these workshops can do. One of them has a website, where they show before and after pictures. This is what happened to the posted rug. All sides are restored, as you can see on the back side picture. But very well done, and for sure worth the money. If you had a resoration like this made in US or Europe, you would have paid at least double just for the work without the rug.

See the website and click on the Restoration link in the left menue.
