I am still here in Afghanistan and ran across another Qum silk rug at the bazaar. I took some photos to see if anyone could determine whether this rug is a real Qum or something else. It is about 3 feet x 6 feet (approximately 2 square meters). The knot count as best as I could determine is about 800-900 knots/inch. I did notice that one corner had some distinctive curling which I took a couple of photos of. It seemed to have a nice hand and drape and folded up quite compactly as you can see from the photo.
Does anyone know what the cartouche says?
The dealer is asking $2000 US dollars for it. Is this a good deal?
