Hey everyone,

I just bought a rug and wanted to get an idea on what its worth. I paid $700 for it and felt pretty good about that price (which is all that really matters in the end).

It is a 6 ft x 4ft hand knotted cashmere wool rug that I got from a store in Delhi called Kashmir Cashmere (curious if anyone is familiar with it). It is a new rug that was made in the Kashmir region and is beautiful shades of green and blue. I don't presently have a photo showing the knot count and I cannot recall the amount but for the sake of argument what would you say the value is for 150 kpsi? What if it was 250 kpsi? When I get it home I will provide an picture but I was so curious to hear your thoughts I couldn't wait!

Thanks for your input in advance!

Could you post images of the back of the rug and fringes (also closer pictures if possible)?

I will when I get a chance. It is sewed up for the trip home in a couple weeks so I won't be able to until then, sorry. It is a cotton base. Thanks for the quick response though, I will definitely post when I get home!

You pay 2 times more expensive than it costs in India. For many years I have not seen the tourists who would buy carpets in India and Turkey at a good price.

Agree with Bukhara - didn't realise you have bought while in India. At retail in the west the price is probably ok but for buying it at source it is very high.

Afghanistan seems to be the only place where tourists (well probably not tourists at present, more likely workers or soldiers from the west) can get good prices on rugs.
