Hello.

I bought this Turkmen rug. It is about 250/100 cm. Wool foundation, white wool warps, dark wool weft. It is very soft.
From the pics i saw before buying it looked all good colors but there are some colors run out. There is a blue running into a white field. The green seems to run out.

The whole rug looks old. But what is your opinion?

Thank you,
Chris

Nice design, great green! (I love those little multi-coloured checkerboard diamonds.)
It doesn't look Turkoman to me though, at least not old. Could it be something else tribal?
The outermost border is Tekke-based, the third one in is Ersari, but the rest is all sorts of things, as you find them on Balouch rugs for instance, but also some Caucasian motives, I believe.

Hi Shereen.

I hoped it is a Kirgiz Turkmen. They often used this diamond medallion.
At least it must be a Turkmen. Weaving and selvages and kilimendings show it.

There is a brown that corroded. First pic, arround the diamond.

Bukhara will know.

I only know the "traditional" pre-1910 turkmen rugs, and nothing much about Kirgiz or Uzbek at all, so if its after 1910, I totally suspend judgement - except that I still think its really nice.
