This is like antique finish chinese from 1970's. It actually looks newer, and a bit courser. Do you have the size? If it is 9x12 I have seen $1800 - $2500 retail, but those looked finer than this rug. If it is used even less.

It's 9x12. I'm located in cleveland and this is for a friend who lives in New York. The asking price was $3000.

That's high retail. If you can negotiate lower, that would be good. Their price is not unreasonable, because it depends on how they bought and when they bought. Really though, for a used rug it does look to be in nice shape.
