looks like a typical pak persian of nice quality. wool pile cotton foundation. probably no more than 20 years old. what is the size? where are you located? what is the condition, how did you acquire, this will all affect value.

It is 11'10" X 9. We got in Japan at an auction. It is in great condition...maybe even excellent. We have never had the chance to use it because our Japanese home was too small for it so we stored it. Now our NYC apt is to small...you can tell by the full rug picture I attached. So we really have no option but to try and sell it :(

It could even be persian. It would probably be worth it to bring it to a local rug dealer for a verbal appraisal because the quality of wool would really help determine a lot here. ballpark in any event for private party, around $1500 would probably be fair (if you waited it out) and if it has no problems or stains and is excellent condition. Look forward to see what the others here say. For selling, try craigslist, ebay and rug buzz. How much did you pay?

I would not be worried. Depending on how you purchased the rug, as mentioned in the previous post, the country of origin and quality of wool would be a big determining factor. If it is Persian, a bit more. You should have this rug viewed in person, I have seen seemingly very high prices on carpets similar to this at wholesale. While at first appearance it seems over-the-top, they can be justified provided they meet a certain qualitative standard.

It seems to be a well mentained indian Kashmir rug with fine quality. If you bought it in Japan, a higher price is ok since Jjapan is very expensive in everything. RugPro gave you a good tip - have it looked at from a reputaded dealer near you.
