I bought this carpet in Sinapore in 1980. The seller said it was from Afganistan and made from lambs wool and silk (I'm not sure I trust the silk part) and dyed with veggies and fruits. It is apprx. 8 feet by 4.5 feet. It is in great shape other than the fringe has been replaced. It also has a script on the back that I can't make out. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Did you replace the fringe? Could you add a picture of the fringe, where it hits the rug, from the back? (A replaced fringe on a 1980s rug is somewhat unusual.)

I had the carpet on a ceramic tile floor for several years and the fringe broke and deteriorated. I had it replaced in about 1995. Since that time it has separated slightly in one corner. I am sending you pictures of that area from the back. Thanks for your inquriy.

Your rug is a Kashmir wool carpet. It is from northern India. The quality is not bad, but it has lost of pile in the years. Value is not more than 100 - 150 US$ in its condition.
