Hello, I am looking for some advice.
I took my silk rug to a professional fine rug cleaner. I feel like it came back looking a bit dull and the fibers seemed almost matted. Instead of feeling soft and lush to the touch it feels almost a bit coarse and thin. It does not seem to shine much, even how I remembered it did before cleaning. Is that possible or is it my imagination?
I read somewhere on the web (so it must be true) that lesser-quality Chinese silk rugs can be ruined by wet cleaning. I am pretty sure this was hand washed using shampoo and flooded rinses. It was also deodorized.
The rug is a decent but not great silk rug, maybe 25 years old, probably Chinese. This is a reputable high end rug cleaner, what could they possibly do wrong to make that happen?
Thanks.
