Hello!

I have inherited a couple of rugs. One, I believe, is Isfahan and silk and is approximately 7x11. My Father purchased the rug in approximately 1989 and I have the receipt! Another is much larger and, I believe older. The mystery rug is approximately 10x15 and of unknow origin other than it was in my granparent's house in Long Island when I was a kiddo (I am 43 now). Two of the appraisers have flat out asked me how much I wanted for the rugs!? Anyway, I am looking for some unbiased expertise from enthusiastic and knowledgeable collectors and I think I may have found the right place. I'd like to know what I have and what they are worth. I don't think I'm interested in selling them. I think they are beautiful.

Pics of both rugs at the link:

Blue rug really Isfahan, I think the market price of about $ 3000-4000. The second looks like kurdish for me.

Yes, first One is isfahan, I would even appraise it a Bit higher, it is quite fine. 5000 - 5500 would Be still ok.
Second one is difficult. Might Be kurdish Malayer area. From colors and structure my guess from the pictures is Chorassan area around Mashad (Looks like antique Doroshk to me). Due to low pile 3000 - 4000 USD,

Second Rug: allover herati design (or fish design) in field; possibly all natural colors; the pink could be insect dye, if it is natural; close-up suggests at least one end seems a little reduced and fringe added later (please correct me, anyone, if I'm wrong here). If I had to make a choice, I'd go northeast Persia rather than Kurdish (=northwest), since resemblance to Turkoman aesthetics of border and the way the weave looks seem not typically Kurdish; but I'm no expert. (KAD and Bukhara are!) Beautifully executed main border IMV, simple but elegant.
