Hand knotted. Design is like Tabriz, wool pile and cotton warp. Needs a good cleaning, so value is probably not tremendous as is, but still sell-able Colors may come out a bit brighter after washing, and if there is wear any further than seen in the photos this has not been accounted for. Would be curious to see what others say
I am pretty sure she said it came from Istanbul, so the Turkish reference makes sense now. Late 60's is correct too, I asked my mother and she agreed, good eye! There are quite a few rug shops her in New Orleans that I can get it cleaned at, but to be honest, the photos don't do the colors justice. It is really much more vibrant. I am thinking of putting it on ebay as is if the cleaning is too expensive, any thoughts on a fair price? I don't wwant to gouge anyone, but I want it to go to a good home. Thank you so much for all your thoughts, of course finiding out the history makes it harder to let go.
