This is by far my favorite of all the rugs my grandmother left me, but unfortunately it doesn't go anywhere in out new house. In the pics you can see it is a 12' x 9' a salmony pink and navy blue, don't mind the mess, we are moving. I can't remember where she once told me it was from, I want to say it started with an I, and it definitely wasn't India. She must have gotten it in the early 70's because it was in her living room since I was born. I am trying to find out a little about the rug's origin, type of construction, and value because I will be selling it :( I appreciate your time, any info would be appreciated!

Looks a little Turkish by the fringe and knotting, but selvage looks a little persian like Tabriz although I would say Turkish overall. This could be late 60's or around there. Hand knotted. Design is like Tabriz, wool pile and cotton warp. Needs a good cleaning, so value is probably not tremendous as is, but still sell-able Colors may come out a bit brighter after washing, and if there is wear any further than seen in the photos this has not been accounted for. Would be curious to see what others say

I am pretty sure she said it came from Istanbul, so the Turkish reference makes sense now. Late 60's is correct too, I asked my mother and she agreed, good eye! There are quite a few rug shops her in New Orleans that I can get it cleaned at, but to be honest, the photos don't do the colors justice. It is really much more vibrant. I am thinking of putting it on ebay as is if the cleaning is too expensive, any thoughts on a fair price? I don't wwant to gouge anyone, but I want it to go to a good home. Thank you so much for all your thoughts, of course finiding out the history makes it harder to let go.
