Got an unusual rug in, at first glance it looked like a variation on a tree of life/pictorial rug but on closer inspection it's actually a map or Persia/Iran with famous buildings representing areas on the map. The detail is quite impressive with sand dunes where it is barren and forests or mountains in regions where they are common.

It's quite fine and pretty good wool. Not sure where it's made though or the type of retail price I should be putting on it (it's 2.00x1.30m)...

I am not 100% but it looks to be an Isfahan. Perhaps others may put a more definitive identification. I had a very similar silk Isfahan.

ufuk

There's something about the border colour that made me think Isfahan but the finishing at the fringes put me off a bit.

It seems to be a 50Raj Tabriz. But without the backside image the front looks to me like Kashmar.

I would agree Kashmar seems to be a very good possibility. Either way, it is Iranian

Thanks guys, Kashmar is probably right. What would you say a fair price for this would be in the US?
