Hello,
I have forgotten the details regarding this rug I had purchased in Abu Dhabi back in 1999. The shop owner is a reputable Emirate. I was somewhat familiar with the local shopping protocol. After spending time browsing items in his shop and haggling prices over tea, we agreed on my purchase price of several items.
I had all but forgotten the rug until I just recently found it neatly tucked away in my cedar closet. It is in perfect condition.
I am told the silk rug is from Qom.
The rug dimensions are:
99 cm wide
157 cm long (not including fringe)
168 cm overall length (including 6 cm top fringe, 5 cm bottom fringe)
There are 10 thread strands per fringe
The rug pile is approx. .25 cm high
I have made several attempts to arrive at a value of:
900 KPSI
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could look at the attached pics and offer their opinion, and/or detailed information that may be helpful in my decision to keep or sell this rug.
Respectfully Yours,
Jampac

Hello, I am new to this forum as well. I do not know much about rugs yet. That is a nice looking rug though!

it's a nice rug, but if all you're going to use it for is storing in a trunk, forgotten, then sell it. There are plenty of people who would buy a nice rug like this and use it (as a wall hanging or on the floor) it could give someone much pleasure. As for selling, the pros will have to give a better idea of asking price.

Could you give an exact count of knots per cm lenght and width?
