Hello all,

My brother acquired this rug about 2 years ago from our parents. We are not sure who our parents acquired the rug from but we believe it was about 8 years ago. If anyone knows what kind or rug it is would be greatly helpful! Also a ballpark estimate would be great!

Thanks.

I re-posted this question because I noticed that I did not upload the correct pictures the first time. Pictures are in order Full Rug, Selvages, Fringe, Quarter. I also attached a worn area where you can see the color difference I don't know if it's from sun or lack of cleaning. Last photo is a clearer shot of rug which better depicts its colors, first full rug shot was difficult to make clear because the rug is large and the room is small.

Thank you! I have a question. How can you tell where it was made just by looking at the rug? Does the design give it away? I would like to learn more about rugs; always have admired them.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm someone who doesn't know a lot about rugs, but has learned a lot here. Designs can be copied. What the people who know about rugs look at is the way the knots are tied in, the way the sides are finished, the dyes, the wool (or other materials)...on and on. It takes a lot of time for a beginner to see the differences, but over time it is possible to learn. I've looked at hundreds of photos and read about different rugs, but it doesn't replace the knowledge of touching and seeing the rugs first hand. Rugs are fun to look at and enjoy.

I am so sorry ,I also can not tell what kind of the carpet ,I just know about hand knotted silk carpet . There are many many different kinds of rugs ,sometimes you can not tell the material from the appearance.

Would anyone know what kind of damage this is? I noticed the streaking on the rug. When there are streaks they go all the way across the width. It almost seems like someone tried to steam/dry clean it and only did parts of the rug. I am unsure but if anyone knows any help would be great.
