Ok, so I bought another one...seller claimed her grandparents bought in Isfahan in the 50's and it's been hanging on the wall ever since. Nearly mint condition, some surface stains, super long fringe (silk base), top fringe is unfinished (like my other Isfahan). Size 44x61". Does anyone have a guess on the actual date or worth. It even came with the original wood hanging bars (you press the rug between and tighten the screws).

Thanks...I paid $1,100+shipping. I really didn't need another rug, but when I saw this one I really couldn't control myself. I tried counting all the different colors, here's what I came up with:
1.red, 2.salmon, 3.navy, 4.blue, 5.teal, 6.ivory, 7.ochre, 8.brown, 9.lt. blue, 10.steel, 11.grey, 12.rust, 13.pink, 14.palegreen

It's a wonderful rug, congratulations. There was another collector of fantastic Isfahans here, fred ... I can't quite remember, but their collection was completed a few months ago -- what a loss as not only were the rugs crisp and stunning but fred (?) was ingenious about repair / cleaning / hanging also. Good luck with your Isfahan collection!

Ha ha, you're funny...guess you can never believe a rug addict when they say "it's my last one", at least it's not crack that I'm addicted to...although, crack might be cheaper!!

Absolutely beautiful !! It Amazes me that rugs of this quality can be bought for so little. Good for those who collect and appreciate
them I guess. Wonder how long it took to make a piece like that?

By chance I cummiicated several times with this seller. At first she didn't have any pictures of the back.
Of course, I was able to display much greater restraint than Fred. Of course that means I reallly really wanted it, but hesitated to buy. Good for you. I knew it went to soneone in Denver, but I didn't realize it had gone to you.

She also has a 1890-1910 balouch prayer rug for $750 with the same claim that her grandmother was shopping in an Iranian bazaar and a local authority hand picked these rugs.. It again looks like an exceptional value for an exceptional rug

This is the listing 260626242021 on ebay. At first she had it listed from the 1700's since that is what her grandmother had told her. I told her to take it to someone.

It is so common to have claims made like "my grandmother was 92 and it was old when she bought it"

Thanks all for the nice comments, I don't buy to sell, only to decorate my tiny home...btuma6 I had wondered if you saw this one, as I know you have the rug addiction too. The seller had it posted as a 'tree of life rug', with very blurry photos (at first) I too had contacted and asked for better photos then gave up on it...but, then I stumbled upon the listing again and clear photos of the back/fringe were posted and I hit 'buy it now' without even thinking! It really may be my last one, as I'm still trying to figure out where I can hang it!!
