Hello,
I'd like to get your opinions and comments on this rug. Any advice would be great!
I don't know anything about persian rugs, however, I do some spinning and weaving. This rug is 6'6" x 9'3". It has natural handspun 2 ply warp and machine spun hand dyed 3ply weft. It is a flat tapestry style split weave with supplementary weft wrapping the slits and outlining all color changes. It uses 10 different colors and shows 1 mistake where the weaver ran out of red/orange and used an aniline dyed look alike for 4" until she obtained a new batch, which was simmered in the dye pot a little longer than the first batch. The bottom and top look exactly alike except for the fading on one side where the aniline red/orange didn't fade. The underside is flawless. There is a stylized goat head woven in the gray triangle and a leopard in the burgandy. The borders are different designs on the selvage than the warp ends. I have numerous photo's however, they are large and take awhile to download. I bartered for it at a flea market and got it for $85.00.
