Hello all. New to the forum. Been a collector and admirer of carpets for a long time.
Haven’t been active for a while so out of touch with today’s market. Its time to lighten the load so I’m selling a few pieces I have had for years. Some so long I’ve forgotten the details on many of them.
. Can anyone tell me what I have here? I think Qum?
3’ 7 inches x 5’ 9 inches Silk foundation. Wool pile with silk highlights. And Signature
Excellent condition. Unusual background color. Thanks for any help.

my guess Isfahan...it looks pretty nice! Where did you get it and how much are you going to sell it for?

Thanks I bought it a a small auction about 10 years ago. I think it was listed as an Isfahan. It is quite nice. What do you think the retail value range today is? I realize no one wants to pay "retail"

I see similarities in a large Qom carpet we have. Are you sure it's full silk and not part silk, part wool? Looks like a good quality piece, not my favourite colours but I'm sure it'll find a lot of interest.

Our Qom shown below (the animals are knotted in silk):

It looks like Qum but it is from Isfahan. It would be a wonderful rug but the combination pink with red is very daring.

I think it says "wool with silk pile" in the description above.

It is a Isfahan, difficult color combination, but still quite fun to look at. These rugs where made in the late 1980 and early 1990. Due to the quite good condition I would say it should bring around $ 1000 - 1500. But you need to find someone who likes the color.

The way those elegantly drawn birds' wings dominate the field is quite impressive. I'm not a (non-antique) Isphahan fan myself, but if you're not in a hurry to sell, and put it e.g. on ebay with lots of photos and close-up of some birds (for buy it now or with best offer), I'd imagine someone will finally fall in love with it.
