A customer has brought me an antique Kilim that has seen better days.

Is this a Qashqai?

The size is 6'4" x 8'8"

The rug was purchased in ether Erzurum or Constantinople between 1860 and 1880

It has been in one family's collection ever since.

I am aware it is not worth much in its current condition.
So the real question now is how much time and money should be invested in this rugs repair?
What is its potential value?

Thank you for your input

This looks to me like an east Anatolien Kilim...probably Kars? I do not think its more worth than $300. But there are speciallist who know it better than me.

I think the potential value lower than the cost of repair.

I'm no expert on antique kilims. That said, Qashgai kilims around 1880 tend to have better colors than your kilim, and they also tend to have certain types of borders which your kilim lacks.

cf. e.g. here:

Yours seems more likely Turkish.
