Several weeks ago there was a conplete discucss on prayer rugs The discussion cemtered on only a few were actually prayed upon.

The attached rug wear pattern could suggest a prayer rug used for prayer by a nomad, bur please correct my fantasies if they are wrong.

How old is the rug and what is the orign of the rug?

Hello Bart.
This is a Baluch prayer rug from early 20th ct. I guess it really was made for using as a prayer rug. But in this condition it is not very interesting.

Thanks Chris. The bad condition is why I had never brought it to the forum in the past, and this is not a rug I have displayed in my house. It is a rug I pull out from time to time to show to someone or as I rumage through my "not ready for primetime" rugs"
At the same time I do find it interesting simply looking at it in a "if this rug could only talk". I would much rather have this rug than a fair condition 1960 rug with no other interesting marks

But I do thank you. I only posted it since there hasn't been many items.

sure looks like a Balouch to me ---- I used to buy rugs like this at about $75 each.

I liked them a lot - just didn't like paying much for them.

Where is the thread on prayer rugs? I have been away from from the forum for a bit but would love to look at that thread.
