Bokhara has already been nice enough to ID this a Causcasian gendje. He stated this on some very bad CL pictures.
So now that I have it what should I do with it? Is there a point where an owner calculates, "This rug is X number of years old, but since so much detail is gone it's not worth the effort and I may as well makes pillows out of it"
When I mean effort I mean either sending the rug to Turkey and having old pile added. I don't like that idea since at some point the orginal rug is gone. The other options is to have a placed on a board and put on the wall. Howeven I don't see the beauty unless it is also a converstion piece.
Years/decades ago someone took the effort to stablize the rug. You will notice some stitching where some type of fabrc was put on the back (it must have been a while back since that fabric is now almost gone, and sides were stablized until that stabilzation went also.
So basic question is how old is it, but is it so far gone my wife should take the borders and make a nice pillow.
Just wanted to know before it is too late.
Thanks
