A Craigslist poster sent me this in response to my request for a photo of the back of an advertised rug. I'm not sure if something is stuck on there, from the floor or mat, or has grown there. What do you think? (I am not pursuing this rug).

We should meet up!
The reply was kind of depressing: "There is nothing wrong with the back. We show that to show and as proof of the fine quality and workmanship of this persian rug Masterpiece."
The thing is, without having seen the truly beautiful photos of the backs of many rugs at this point, many of them here, I *might* have thought this is what the back of a Persian rug looks like, even if I instinctively recoiled.

I saw the rug on Boston Craigslist. Is that where you saw it also, Mosaic08? Or is this rug going national?

This looks like a one of those old jute pads breaking down. The rug may actually be in pretty good shape. The seller should have sent a vacuumed picture. Not much of a salesman, I guess.
