I haven't put this rug on with the other tribals since it probably doesn't bring anything new to the discussion, but I had another question. I have Ford's "Orietnal Rug Design". What other books would you suggest to help me in my quest to identifying rugs?

This rug is 39"X79" the abrash is very nice in person and the dyes very solid if that implies vegatible. Is the brighter lime green a sign of chemical dye, or a sign of a newer rug?

The borders seem like a random array of nothing and again I don't know if that simply shows a 1970 common rug.

Thanks for your help

What kind of rugs are you trying to identify? There's no one book for all rugs, so you need to give some more specifications, I think.

Colours are hard to judge on photographs, but to me they look mostly synthetic, and the rug newer. (The fact that a rug is worn to the knots is not necessarily a sign of age.)

The main border has elements similar to some Balouch borders, if somewhat crudely executed.

Thanks Chris. I'm okay with idnetify comtemparycity rugs. Therefore, older tribal would be my interest. They are also my interest due to all the "individuality" per tribe.
Also thanks for the ID. I was'nt going to put it on for the same reason you gave as identification. It's always nice to bring something different.

There is a section of this forum called Rug Resources. In that area is a thread where a couple of us discussed a few books and I included a link to a list of 20 or so rug books I have.

You have persian Hamedan carpet. This are not very high quality carpets. They use wool and cotton for materials and syntetic dyes.
