Is this a hand knotted persian rug? If yes, is it really worth $150?

Thanks,

Yes, agree. It didn't even occur to me first that this could be abrash, rather some weird unusual striping pattern. (seems top-bottom and left-right symmetrical and only on the gray)
I'd go for that chair, instead, if it's still available ...

It's artificial abrash - a slightly acidic liquid was applied to the pile.

It is a common tactic - which sometimes ruins an otherwise perfectly good rug.

Machinemade rugs usually are not treated after production. The abrash is part of the programm. It uses different color material on production already.

The runner is a nice old persian Afshar rug, price is ok. The larger rug is hard to tell from this distance. Design looks like Heriz or Tabriz (Khoy). Try to get a picture from the knots, then it is easy to tell.

The pictures did help a lot. It is easier to tell the origin from the knots than from the design. As RugPro posted, it is indian. I would try to get it a little cheaper.
