Hello Everybody,

Can anyone help me to identify this rug? I recently bought it at a charity bazaar. It has a total of 256 knots per square inch and measures 62" X 98". The colors look a little faded. Good overall condition. Is it hand or machine made?
Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks!

hard to tell with the glare in the photo ---- Nain maybe?

Looks like cotton warp - so it's not Esfahan (which would have a silk warp).

It's hard to tell - need to know if its cotton warp or silk. What I can tell is that it looks to me handmade, and most probably from Iran or Chinese reproduction (with single knots - not gordes Turkish knots).

Looks to me like an ordinary Kashmir Srinagar cotton pile on cotton.

Thanks for the comments. After a closer look I believe it's cotton warp.

It is china artifical silk with cotton foundation. The cotton was natron washed to get some shine. count the knots in one ft lenght to get the quality. For example 200 knots on one ft would be 200 line quality.

Yes, you are right. Especially the last medachyl border isnt typical for kashmir rugs.
