I'm a rug collector - but I've only had the bug for 4 years.

My focus is kilims, although I've owned a few nice rugs, as well.

Present holdings:
- Miri kilim
- Antique prayer kilim from Malaytia
- Josheghan
- Twin Kashans (ardistan)
- Afghani made Turkoman.

Past holdings:
- Antique Turkoman
- 3x4 meter Kashan
- Dozens of prayer rugs - primarily Balouch

I've traveled a bit in Turkey, Iran, and a few parts of the Muddle East.

I'm not much into high art (slik) pieces. I prefer the more basic tribal and village designs.

I don't really trust my abilitty to distinguish silk from anything else, so I stick to wool rugs.

Most of the collecters don't collect silk. I love kilims and my specialty is kilim as well. I own Many pieces. Erzurum, Konya.Kayseri, Malatya, Sene,Avsar,Van,Mucur,Aydin....... I am the second generation in collecting kilims. I do repair them . I love everything about kilim. Because kilim is real folk art. You can look at the same piece for many years, you can still discover something new everyday.

A few samples..... I like Prayer rugs.

First image - Early 20th century prayer rug. Apparently Central Anatolia (attributed to Malatya)
This piece is very delicate. There's silver threads spun into the design to highlight parts of the piece.

Second image --- supposedly an Ensi. I think it's an Ersari Ensi wannabe. Still - it's cute and it melts in your hands.

Third image - reportedly Balouch prayer rug. Again - exceptionally soft --- well worn. Definately prayed upon a lot (you can see a forehead mark up close).
