Ok. Suzani may not be consider as what you would call a "Traditional rug" - but I think as any handmade rug, it has it's own beauty. I use them at home as table covers or even bed cover (for our guest room).
I've been a big fan of Suzani embroideries lately - but my favorites are natural Silk Suzanis with finest embroideries from Uzbekistan.

Suzanis are gaining a lot of popularity. even at department stores i have seen many linens and bedsheets with suzani designs.

As far as I know the word "Suzani" comes from the Persian word for “needle”. I suppose it is called Suzani due to the embroideries made with needles. But again, I don't speak Iranian yet so cannot confirm :)
