I just got this rug today, won it off e-Bay last week. It blows away my other silk rugs in the knot-count, very well made. Would like to know what's going on in the scene (not too good in the history department), also would anyone like to guess the origin, age and value? It's 3'x2' not counting the fringe, the seller was cleaning out an old estate and didn't know where it came from. I think I could count 43 knots going across in a 1". It's in very good shape. Yep, made in China, made in last 2 decades, "pictorial scene from Persian literature" (the scene may be from the story Layla & Majnun), kpsi 1660, value: "pictorial scenes such as this tend not to have as much market appeal or draw as much demand here in the states as perhaps in other countries overseas. Given the exceptional quality of the rug, and taking in consideration the design, perhaps a private party value of around $1800"...I had the rug appraisal done here ($40), sent these photos
