I really enjoy learning from the forum but it doesn't get much action; I would hate to see what few posts get made be deleted. Also, the level of expertise here is immense. And with the combined knowledge of all the experts here, a lot can be learned about a given rug even if the pictures aren't optimal.
I hope you can reconsider. Right now I have a friend looking at rugs for me in Kabul, and he'll bring them back so I won't have to pay shipping. I am really excited to see what he turns up, and I'm excited to see what the experts here have to see about the rugs available. He'll do his best with pictures but I'd hate to think my posts will get deleted if they're sub-par.
I'm really hoping you'll reconsider.
Hey jesco
I understand what you are saying, but there is something very important to consider here.
The objective on the forum is to minimize level of risk for buyers. Looking at images is not the ideal way to review a rug. There are thousands of weaving areas. This is what people do not understand. It's not like looking at a car. At times, dozens of factors need to be put together to make an educated guess as to what a rug is and whether it may be worth the look.
So, if necessary images are not provided, not only may this make our jobs more difficult, but also may render misleading information despite our levels of expertise. There is a reason as to why the images are so specific.
Without these images in the majority of situations, there would be no point to the forum. So yes, posts which do not serve utility to the internet audience, or posts which do not have enough photographs for the experienced rug people to make assesments will be deleted.
