My grandparents brought this Pakistan Bokhara back from Pakistan in the early 70's. I know very little about rugs so unfortunately I can't give any qualified info on the valuable features. I'm most likely selling the rug if I can find a buyer.

The rug is in good condition, no worn areas, and is 6'6" by 4'2". It looks to be 5 colors. I counted the knots in one square inch and it is around 324kpsi (or 18 x 18). I don't know the fibers but I don't think it's silk. There is a cotton tag on the bottom of one corner, but the writing is so faded I can't read anything besides "18C". What else can I tell you to help find info?

Thanks for you help!

Pakistan Bokhara rugs = fake rugs that copy Turkmen rugs from Turkmenistan. These rugs have virtually zero value, as soon as you get out of a rug shop. I would say that for your rug you can get $ 20-30 on Ebay.

you can get more than $20 - 30. If you sell with craigslist or something you can probably ask 150 . the knot count cant be 18x18 on this rug tho. you may be counting both nodes of one knot on the horizontal to be separate

Well shux. It's entirely possible that I'm counting knots wrong, but it's also possible I'm mistaken that it's a Pakistan Bokhara. My grandfather was an exec at General Motors when he traveled to the middle east and bought the rug in the early 70's, it
wouldn't be his style to buy and carry a cheap rug all the way back to Detroit, but then again maybe he knew as much about rugs as I do.

I counted these knots as four, when I counted 18 in an inch. How many do you see? Thanks again, I appreciate your honest feedback.

If top to bottom in a portrait orientation, the photograph above is sideways. that's the count vertical, which is ok. the count horizontal will show two nodes.

See ghiordes knot example

more info see the video: http://www.rugrag.com/po...ty-Kerman2c-Sarouk.aspx

I can't see enough of the rug or the photos needed to say exactly where it's from, but most likely it is from pakistan.
