I saw this carpet on line but it didn't look right to me. So I go and look around and find out they got ripped off
for $250,000 and they still call it 16th century. Really big fiasco out there in LA but must have been hushed up because it took me a long time to hear about it. All the really old rugs I've encountered have been noticeably different which this one isn't which is what interested me in the first place.

Here's a link to the picture tell me what you think. There is lots more to the story big time rug dealers down and dirty. You can find it all online.

Well I guess nobody wants to touch this with a ten foot pole but that's ok.
Seems like Dodds and the gang are getting away with the heist as the carpet is on
the website as 16th century. These are the ones we see in paintings the Lotto rugs
and from that vintage. This one just doesn't measure up and I'm amazed and dumbfounded
that more people don't see this or I know more than I thought I did.I think you should all
write the museum as I did and ask them if they have had an expert check that rug. Here are
some real 16th century rugs.

I think I see why you raise the question but am far from having an inkling of sufficient expertise to be the questioner.

So why don't you ask them? Whistle

I'll be glad when I know enough to even see the possibility of a fraud like this. Very interesting assertion. I am mainly interested in fairly new or semi-antique rugs.

I already asked the museum but they never replied and I'm sure they won't. From what I understand they
have had experts examine the rug. Some say yes some say no. As far as my expertise goes the rug didn't
look right so I googled it and come up with the controversial info. Something interesting to do about rugs
and hate to see a museum get ripped off and someone getting fired for trusting a so called respected rug dealer.
