okay, i just brought it to Mo at Connesuier Oriental Rug...here is what he said...
...he liked it and wanted to buy it...said it had some issues, but nothing that couldn't be taken care of... it did have some small dog urine stains, but said they were only small and were not repeated, which is a good thing (he said he normally sees pet stains where dogs and cats will go in the same place over and over, which is impossible to get out)... but since it does have a little bit of urine, he'll need to do some additional cleaning, which, with the end repairs and minor salvage, puts the cost at 700 dollars...
so, right now, i'm in at 700 plus the potential 700 of bringing it up to great condition...
now, he does have a buyer of a sarouk of this size (which is 10x13) and is offering me 1200 dollars...
...so, here is my question, based on everything we know...what would each of you do given your knowledge of the industry, what i have into it, what it will take/cost to fix, what he is offering...and the fact that i really don't have a place for it... of course, i want to do the best thing and could always use the money, but i really do like this rug and am always afraid of making a bad deal...also, what about mo's offer...is it inline, or is it a low ball... i asked him honestly what he would sell it for and he said somewhere between 3-4k...so, again, is this a reasonable offer based on what would be considered a reasonable return on his mark-up...
...also, what about the potential for it to be a Mohajaran Sarouk...as everyone in the community ruled this out...mo was not quick to say it was, but did say it is definately 1920s...
...so, what does everyone think...and rugpro, what would you do in my shoes having known me a little bit from all my prior posts and feelings towards rugs?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
i eagerly await everyone's thoughts!!!
