Greetings. I am new here so please bear with me.

This is really not a rug but rather some sort of wall hanging. I purchased it in Budapest, Hungary several years ago at an antique store. I was told that it was made "in the region" and was from the "turn of the century" - the 20th. It has 10 small metal rings sewn into the top. It is approximately 4' by 3'. The piece is made of wool, I believe, and is rather thick, almost like a thick wool sweater.

I have been trying for years to identify this piece with no luck and was hoping someone here might be able to help. I am trying to attach images, I hope do it correctly.

Thank you.
Chris

Hi,
I've run across a few of these over the years and they appear to be made by individuals in the home.
They usually copy carpet patterns and are a soumak type weave. If they said it was made in Hungary that's
probably where it was made, it could have been made anywhere. It looks like wool or a wool blend on a cotton
foundation. You might want to replace the rings with a sleeve sewn to the back to give it more support. Nice looking
to some I'm sure. Hope this helps.
