I would like to identify this rug and know a bit about its style and where it comes from. I recently purchased it while in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. Its design appealed to me. I know a decent amount about classical Persian rugs, but this one is different and it caught me as it was simpler, rougher, and yet still held an attractiveness.
It is a camel-hair rug with a relatively thin pile. It is just over 5'x3' in dimension. It has an interesting double fringe, with patterning in the inner fringe. It was probably made in Northwestern Xinjiang or Kazakhstan.
Does anyone have any idea how it might be categorized or where/when such a rug might have been made?
Thanks again,
