We have 3 rugs that were inherited from my husband's Maiden Aunts from Nova Scotia. They travelled in Europe in the 1930's (Great color movies showing Nazi Germany before the war!) so we believe they may have purchased them around that time. The colors are beautiful and they are in great condition for rugs about 75-80 years old. They may have been cleaned at some point, but it would have been before 1960, when my husband's father got them in his sisters' estates. We are trying to sell them at auction to raise money to get our dog to the vet, so we need to know what they may be and what the potential value might be.

Thanks for any help - we do appreciate it!

Nazi-Deutschland was very popular for machine made rugs at this time. Seems to be one from Berlin.

I see that Wilton is a style of weaving - is it also a pattern? I just talked to my Father-in-law, he thinks they may have bought these rugs in Boston . My husband is willing to take more photos, we've done the one with the quarter, fringe and edges - would one showing the pile help? What other types of photos would be needed? I also am wondering about the 2 ovoid shapes, it almost looks like a prayer type thing - showing where to place your knees, etc. Is that too off-the-wall? (Hope that's not too un-PC!)

In the second post is a link that will let you know the kind of pictures needed.
Wilton refers to the type of machine loom used to make the rug - nothing to do with pattern.

I would not call this rug a prayer rug for many reasons. And, if I had it to sell, I would not expect to get much for it.
Machine mades rugs, with few notable exceptions, just don't hold resale value. As an example, a Karastan (brand) rug *might* hold value but not appreciate in value. Otherwise, to most people it's just an old rug.

Additional information needed includes size.
