I am happy to have found this forum. I have a few rugs that my husband bought in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia about 20 years ago and also one from Turkey.
I tried to use the "Appraisal form" that appears on the website but when I tried to "send" it did not work. So I'm hoping I can get some help here. I'm so grateful that I can come here and get an idea about the value of the carpets as we would like to sell them now. We have an interested buyer who is waiting for me to tell him some prices.
I thought I would start with the following carpet. The seller in Jeddah, an Afghan himself, said this one is a 'Chokh' from the Ali Khoja family. It is lambs wool and was 15 to 20 years old at the time. It would then now be 35-40 years old. It is partly a beautiful indigo colour. It is symetrical and has no worn areas and although not freshly cleaned is clean and could be used as is.
