Is the rug 7x10 or perhaps 5x7? 6x9 is an odd size for a Persian rug, so your rug may be larger/smaller than you think. If the rug is 5x7, you may be able to get a sleeve sewn on the back and use a decorative rod to hang (but, I'd probably do this horizontally so there is more length to distribute the weight). If you actually have is closer to a 7x10, you're probably going to need the same type of hanging clips and wall mount hardware that we use for display at the shop. The rugrag website mentioned the Zoroufy brand decorative hanging clips, which look like a fancier version of the type we use for display. I would try those (making sure the brackets are screwed into your wall studs.)
