Hello

New to the forum...1st off hello to everyone.

ok...so my parents used to live in Vegas and now they are back. They brought home an authentic 12X9 MGM Grand rug from the rebuild just after the fire.

my father did cabinets for an older gentlemen that couldnt afford the bill, and gave my father this rug instead insisting in its value...my father wouldnt take the man's $ is what I think, and the man gave my father the rug instead.

they would like to know the value of the rug. and dont really know computers so well, so I offered to help. I have to assume this rug is rare.

"Its Red and gold with floweretts in nearly mint condition, and its bound" my mother said

I will be back later this afternoon with photos.

Please ask any questions that may assist in your proper ball park appraisals of this rug.

I do know that on the underside of the rug is "P3" and "18th floor" denotating the location, possibly the penthouse?

thank you for any and all time.

I suspect there is little value to this piece. I believe it to be a machine made commercial carpet. (It seems likely that this was intended for a hallway and just left over as an over-run.) It could have a wool face or nylon or polypropylene but more and more "high end" hotels are going back to wool.
Such a piece was probably produced specifically for the hotel so value is more likely to be a matter of sentiment rather than cash.

yea, netjim is right. it is machine made, may be wool. In all likelyhood, it's really not of significant value. Unless you spin a tale on ebay about famous people who walked on the carpet.... you're looking at low return
